Our Treatments: Your Path to Recovery
At our clinic, your physiotherapist and/or chiropractor combine evidence-based techniques with personalized care to help you recover efficiently and achieve your long-term health goals.
Foundations of Treatment
Although each patient's treatment plan will look different, your personalized care will be built upon these core foundations:
- Manual Therapy
- Supportive Modalities
- Education & Self-Management
1. Manual Therapy
Our treatment philosophy begins with the hands of our skilled practitioners. Manual therapy is a cornerstone of musculoskeletal care, relying on the therapist's training to directly assess, diagnose, and treat impairments in joints and muscles.
Key Goals of Manual Therapy:
- Restore Mobility: Correcting joint restrictions and stiffness to allow for full, pain-free movement.
- Decrease Pain: Utilizing targeted techniques to calm irritated nerves and soft tissues.
- Improve Function: Preparing the tissue and joint structures to better tolerate the demands of exercise and daily life.
2. Supportive Modalities
We utilize a range of advanced tools and specialized treatments to complement your manual therapy and exercise protocols. These modalities are designed to accelerate tissue repair, reduce pain and swelling, and address chronic conditions, facilitating your rehabilitation program.
Managing Pain and Spasms
These treatments manage immediate symptoms, reducing pain and muscle guarding so you can begin active recovery more comfortably.
- TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation): Uses a gentle electrical current delivered through electrodes to the skin. It works by stimulating sensory nerves to block or reduce pain signals, offering non-invasive pain relief.
- Interferential Current (IFC): A form of electrotherapy that uses two mild, medium-frequency currents to create a therapeutic current within the muscle tissue. It is effective for reducing deep pain, managing swelling, and relieving muscle spasms.
- Acupuncture / Dry Needling: The insertion of fine needles into specific points or muscle trigger points to relieve chronic pain, muscle tension, and promote natural healing.
- Cryotherapy (Cold Therapy): Application of ice packs or cold packs. Used in the acute phase of injury to reduce pain, decrease swelling, and limit inflammation by constricting blood vessels.
- Thermotherapy (Heat Therapy): Application of hot packs or moist heat. Used for subacute and chronic conditions to relax tight muscles, increase blood flow, and reduce joint stiffness.
Tissue Healing Technologies
These advanced techniques use specific forms of energy (sound and light) to penetrate deep into soft tissues, stimulating circulation and cellular repair.
- Shockwave Therapy: A non-invasive treatment that delivers high-energy acoustic pulses to injured or chronic tissues. It is effective for stimulating collagen production and treating chronic tendon issues like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and tennis elbow.
- Therapeutic Ultrasound: Utilizes high-frequency sound waves to penetrate deep into soft tissues. This helps to increase circulation, relax muscle spasms, and promote cellular healing.
- Laser Therapy (Low-Level Laser/Light Therapy - LLLT): Uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular activity, which can accelerate tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain.
Spinal and Joint Decompression
This technique uses controlled physical force to relieve pressure on sensitive structures, helping to restore movement and nerve function.
- Spinal Decompression / Traction: Gentle, controlled force applied to the spine to relieve pressure on compressed nerves and discs, often used for chronic neck and low back pain.
3. Education & Self-Management
Our commitment extends beyond your time in the clinic. We believe that education and self-management are the key ingredients for preventing future injury and ensuring your long-term independence. This area of care empowers you with the knowledge, awareness, and customized tools needed to maintain a healthy, active life well after your formal treatment ends.
- Patient Education: Comprehensive instruction on proper posture, effective lifting techniques, safe body mechanics, and self-management strategies. We empower you to take control of your recovery and health.
- Home Exercise Program (HEP) Development: Detailed, customized routines provided to ensure your progress continues between clinic visits.
